Karachi: Senior educationists on the occasion of launching of ‘Habib University’ stated that Pakistan is ranked on 124th out of the 144 countries.  According to the World Global Competitiveness Report of 2012, Pakistan has been categorized considering the higher education and training that is imparted by the local universities of the country, it was further said upon.
A grand ceremony was held in the private sector university.  During the ceremony, emphases were laid upon by the university alumni over science and liberal arts faculties. Habib University is open for admissions to the new batch for the commencement of new sessions of the year, 2014.
Senior teaching and administration staff addressed the attendees on the occasion including Wasif Rizvi, President of Habib University, Dr. Noman Naqvi- Acting Dean and Founding Faculty School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Shoaib Zaidi- Dean School of Sciences and Engineering, Associate Dean Student Affairs Dr. H David Shaw, Dean Research and Continuing Education Dr. Tim Spracklen, Senior Planning Assistant Minerva John, Assistant Director International Officer Samar Hasan, Assistant Professor Dr. Nosheen Ali and Design consultant Susan Whitmer .
Wasif Rizvi speaking on the topic ‘A global institution in the making’ said that unfortunately only 0.22 % of the GDP is reserved for the higher education sector. This is because of this reason that the top university of the country is at 1, 677th across the globe.
