LAHORE: The Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) protested against the police raid at a hostel of the Punjab University.
Members of the IJT snatched the keys of several buses and cars leaving their passengers stranded on Canal Road, Multan Road and Band Road. Buses were also used to block traffic on these roads. The actions of the IJT members brought parts of the provincial capital to a standstill.
police arrested 12 students during the raid at hostel no.16 of the Punjab University earlier. An IJT spokesman for the Punjab University said the patience of students should not be tested. He urged authorities to immediately release the arrested students.
The IJT is the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami.
