KARACHI: Twins blast near a roadside tea stall killed at least Seven people including a staffer of Geo news and injured more than 40 in Ancholi area of the city, Geo News reported late Friday night.

The Associate producer of Geo news program “Geo FIR”, Salik Ali Jaffery was also among the victims

Eye witnesses said two blasts occurred in the area near a tea stall and a milk shop, injuring over 40 people who were rushed to different hospitals.

Medics say seven of the injured succumbed to their wounds in the hospital. They said that women and children were also among the injured.

Rescue teams and heavy contingent of police and Rangers also rushed to the spot while the Bomb Disposal Squad was also called in.

A number of shops and vehicles parked near the tea stall were also partially damaged.

DIG East Javed Odho said the bombs were planted in motorcycles that were parked in the crowded area. He said that about 3 to 4 kilograms of explosive material was used in the explosions.

The area plunged into darkness after a KESC PMT tripped. However, the KESC personnel reach the site of the incident and restored the power supply.
