ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered a ban on all wall chalkings with hate speech as well as the use of loud speakers for hate speech.

During a high-level meeting to review the law and order situation, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed the police and administration to take immediate action against the use of wall chalking and loud speakers for spreading hate speech.

The prime minister termed the Rawalpindi tragedy as a result of the negligence and incompetence of police and administration. “The criminal silence of the police and administration will not be tolerated.”

The prime minister also called the use of social media to spread propaganda based on hate regrettable.

The meeting was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Information Minister Pervez Rasheed, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam, Punjab Home Secretary, IG Punjab. The meeting was briefed by DG ISI on the internal and external security of the country.
