Mumbai, Lahore: The newly Hindu convert Muslim in an interview stated the urge by one of the Muslim factory worker in her workplace to observe veil, made her to embrace Islam. Pushpa narrates her story saying that as a Hindu she lived a miserable life. Weak financial conditions of her in-laws forced her to do job in a factory.
A Muslim worker, her colleague urged her to enter into the folds of Islam. She says that the woman would often ask her to cover her body properly, otherwise she would wear sari, which is much traditional dress of Hindu.
“Gradually love for Islam engrained in me and my husband also converted to Islam”, said the converted woman. She stated that I had never thought that Islam would give much rights and respects to the torture- ridden women class.
It is pertinent here to mention that in many parts of the countries, strict ban is imposed over observance of head scarf and veil. But, the Muslim women despite paying the penalties and bearing the harsh conditions stick to ALLAH’s command.
While in Pakistan and many of the countries, Muslim women are free to observe headscarf and veils. In societies like us, covered women are respected. Veil has always dignified a woman’s sanctity!
